Board of Trustees Bio Information
Robert Lancey
Robert Lancey, MD is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA, and of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He completed his General Surgery and Thoracic Surgery training at the UMass Memorial Medical Center, and performed a heart transplantation fellowship in Harefield, England. He has also earned his MBA from the Johnson School of Management at Cornell University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Cardiology, and the American College of Chest Physicians. He lives in Fly Creek with this wife, Lisa Manna, and their four children.
Peter Deysenroth
Peter A. Deysenroth was born and raised in Weston, Connecticut. After graduating from Weston High School in 1984, he pursued a career in funeral directing and graduated Cum Laude from Herkimer County Community College and as Valedictorian from Simmons School of Mortuary Science in Syracuse. For eight years, he managed the former Raymond Funeral Home in Norwalk, Connecticut. He moved to Cooperstown in 1994 and became associated with and later purchased what is now the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home. A member of the Board of Trustees of The Brookwood School since 2003, he is also an active member of many local and national civic and fraternal organizations, as well as several professional associations, both here and abroad. An avid musician, he currently serves as organist at The First Presbyterian Church in Cooperstown. He and his wife, Maria, and their son, Erik, live in a home located between Toddsville and Fly Creek.
Bertine McKenna
Dr. Bertine McKenna is the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY. Dr. McKenna received her doctorate in Healthcare management from Century University in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1991, and she is a member of several professional associations, including the American College of Health Care Executive, American Association of Integrated Healthcare Delivery, and former vice president of the New Hampshire/Vermont Risk Management Association. In addition to serving on the Board of Trustees at The Brookwood School, Dr. McKenna also serves on the board of the Catskill Symphony Orchestra and The Clara Welch Thanksgiving Home, among others. Dr. McKenna loves to laugh, sing, and get together with friends, and she performs regularly with the Accapella Group.
Janine Sabella
Janine Sabella was born in Cooperstown and raised in Norwich, New York. After graduating from Norwich Senior High School, she continued her education at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio graduating with honors in chemistry. She received her medical degree from Albany Medical College. Since completing her residency training at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, she has been practicing Emergency Medicine in the region for the past 14 years. Janine enjoys gardening, travel, dancing, and many sports including tennis. Janine and her husband, Jeff, live just outside of Cooperstown with their two children Alex and Gabrielle.
Marielle Ainsworth
Marielle Ainsworth was born and raised in Medford Lakes, NJ. She received her B.A. in English with a minor in Spanish from McDaniel College in 1994 and her Masters in English from The University of New Mexico in 1999. Marielle began her teaching career at Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell and has continued teaching English Composition and Literature classes online for ENMU-R since moving to Cooperstown in 2005. Marielle lives with her husband, Philip Heavner, and their two sons, Nathan and Brendan, in Pierstown.
Wendy Ferguson
Wendy Ferguson was born and raised in Andes, NY. She received her BSN at Hartwick College in 1987 and began working at Bassett Hospital as a Registered Nurse. She completed her MS as a Board Certified Geriatric Nurse Practitioner in 1997 at Binghamton University. Since then, her Bassett “clinic” has been at the Otsego Manor Skilled Nursing Facility. She completed Board Certification as an Advanced Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse in 2004. She is active in multiple professional organizations and sub specializes in wound care management. Wendy enjoys landscaping, any type of needlework, and kayaking. She and her husband, Dennis, live in Middlefield with their son, Cameron.
