Student Conduct, Values, & Grades
Conduct
Students are expected to respect persons and their property at all times. Students who steal or deface the property of others, or who intimidate or otherwise violate the rights of others are addressed immediately and the incident is shared with parents. Subsequent offenses can result in disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion.
Values
In classroom discussions and through modeling of the faculty, students are encouraged to accept responsibility for their actions, respect each others' personal beliefs and values and respect the dignity of every individual. When necessary, teachers apply creative problem solving and conflict resolution to help students take greater personal responsibility and become better able to communicate their thoughts and feelings.
Grades
The Brookwood School does not issue grades, but rather follows each child academiaclly and developmentally assessing skills as well as personal growth. Twice a year conferences are scheduled accompanied by a narrative report, and twice a year a skill assessment checklist is filled out.
